Indications:

Composition:

• One tablet contains codeine phosphate hemihydrate 7.5 mg, potassium guaiacolsulfonate 120 mg and excipients
• Tusocalm tablets due to the content of codeine phosphate are an antitussive, and due to the potassium guaiacolsulfonate they are an expectorant.

How to use:

Tusocalm is administered orally, 1 tablet, 3-4 times a day.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients, children under 3 years of age, severe renal, hepatic or cardiac insufficiency, respiratory failure.

Precautions:

• Caution is recommended in patients with bronchial asthma and pulmonary emphysema in whom Tusocalm tablets may accentuate the phenomena of respiratory failure
• The central depressant effect of codeine is potentiated by phenothiazines, tricyclic antidepressants, MAOIs, antihistamines, tranquilizers, sedatives, hypnotics, alcohol
• Codeine potentiates analgesics (association with acetylsalicylic acid or other analgesics and antipyretics is recommended), leading to increased analgesic effect
• The effects of codeine are reduced by kaolin (absorption decreases)
• Caution in young children, high doses of codeine (0.3 g/kg body weight) can cause convulsions
• Do not administer to breastfeeding women. Codeine is excreted in breast milk and crosses the placental barrier
• Although there is no clear evidence of harmful effects on pregnancy due to the administration of codeine, caution is recommended for pregnant women, especially in the first months of pregnancy
• Tusocalm reduces the ability to drive or use machines.

Storage:

• Keep out of the reach and sight of children
• Store below 25 degrees C, in the original packaging
• Do not use the product after the expiry date stated on the carton
• The expiry date refers to the last day of that month
• This medicine does not require any special storage conditions
• Medicines should not be thrown away via wastewater or household waste
• Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer need. These measures will help protect the environment.
