Loperamid LPH 2 mg, 10 capsules, Labormed Pharma Trading

Loperamid contains loperamide hydrochloride, which belongs to a group of medicines called antidiarrhoeals. In case of diarrhoea, Loperamid capsules make the stools firmer and less frequent.

Loperamid 2 mg capsules are used to treat an episode of:

• acute diarrhoea in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age
• diarrhoea associated with irritable bowel syndrome in adults over 18 years of age.

Composition:

• The active substance is loperamide hydrochloride
• Each capsule contains loperamide hydrochloride 2 mg
• The other ingredients are: capsule contents - maize starch, lactose monohydrate, talc, magnesium stearate; Capsule shell - titanium dioxide (E171), brilliant blue FCF (E133), carmoisine (E122), gelatin.

How to use:

• You can use Loperamid capsules at any time of the day. The capsules should be swallowed with an adequate amount of liquid
• Loperamid capsules will be referred to below as Loperamid
• Do not administer more than 6 Loperamid capsules within 24 hours
• If diarrhoea persists for more than 48 hours, stop treatment with Loperamid and contact your doctor.

Treatment of acute diarrhoea:

• Adults and adolescents over 12 years: administer 2 Loperamid capsules once, then one Loperamide capsule, after each diarrhoeal stool
• If you have solid or hard stools or if you pass 24 hours without stools, stop treatment.

Treatment of acute diarrhoea associated with irritable bowel syndrome:

• Adults over 18 years of age: initially, give 2 Loperamid capsules at once, then one Loperamid capsule after each diarrhoeal stool, unless your doctor advises otherwise
• If repeated episodes of diarrhoea continue for more than two weeks, contact your doctor.

Contraindications:

Do not use Loperamid capsules if

• you are allergic (hypersensitive) to loperamide hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine; Loperamid capsules are not intended for administration to this age group)
• you are under 18 years of age in the case of treatment of diarrhoea associated with irritable bowel syndrome.

Precautions:

• Do not take this medicine for more than the approved indication and never take more than recommended
• Treatment with loperamide hydrochloride is a symptomatic treatment, which means that Loperamid capsules may make stools firmer and less frequent, but will not treat the cause of the diarrhoea
• Whenever possible, the cause of the diarrhoea should also be treated.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility:

• Although preclinical studies have not shown embryotoxic or teratogenic potential for delperamide hydrochloride and the excretion of the drug in breast milk is in very low concentrations, it is recommended to avoid administration during pregnancy and breastfeeding
• Any administration in these situations will be strictly on the recommendation and under the supervision of the specialist, after carefully evaluating the benefit-risk ratio
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Driving and using machines:

• This medicine may cause mild and temporary drowsiness or dizziness (vertigo)
• It is recommended that you do not drive or use machines while taking loperamide.
