Contracept-M, 10 ovules, Magistra

Contracept-M is indicated for local contraception. This method considerably reduces the risk of pregnancy without completely eliminating it: the effectiveness is greater if the method of use is followed.

Contraceptive method is indicated for women who are sexually active.

Special indications are for the following situations:

• temporary or definitive contraindications to other contraceptive measures: oral contraceptives or intrauterine device
• after childbirth or abortion, during breastfeeding and during the premenopausal period
• when episodic contraception is desired
• during oral contraception if oral contraceptive administration has been forgotten
• can be used in combination with a local contraceptive (diaphragm).

Composition:

• The active substance is benzalkonium chloride
• One ovule contains 18.9 mg of benzalkonium chloride
• The other ingredients are: semi-synthetic solid fats.

How to use:

• Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure
• The recommended dose is one ovule before each sexual intercourse, regardless of the period of your menstrual cycle. Contraceptive protection is provided for approximately 4 hours
• In the case of a new sexual intercourse, another ovule is used
• In the case of repeated intercourse, you must use a new ovule each time
• The ovule is inserted deeply intravaginally, 5-10 minutes before sexual intercourse, with the patient in a supine position, to ensure optimal dissolution of the active substance
• External toilet immediately after sexual intercourse is done with water only (do not use soap, as it reduces the spermicidal effect).

Contraindications:

Do not use Contracept-M if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to benzalkonium chloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Precautions:

Before using Contracept-M, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding:

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine

Pregnancy:

• No toxic risk has been reported from the use of this spermicide during pregnancy.

Breast-feeding:

• Benzalkonium chloride is not excreted in milk. Therefore, it is possible to use the spermicide during breast-feeding.

Driving and using machines:

• Contracept-M has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
