Description
Struviren, 500 mg, 60 tablets, Meditrina Pharmaceuticals
It represents the therapeutic solution recommended by the European Guidelines for Urolithiasis in the prevention of calcification of urinary probes and the treatment of infectious renal lithiasis (struvite, apatite, brushite), ensuring controlled urinary acidification (pH 5.8 - 6.2).
Active ingredients:
Each Struviren tablet contains 500 mg of L-methionine as an ingredient with physiological action.
Administration method:
- The recommended daily dose of Struviren is 1 tablet of 500 mg 2 times a day
- In certain cases, the daily dose of Struviren can vary between 500 mg and 3000 mg
- The optimal dose of Struviren is the dose that manages to adjust and maintain the urinary pH at values between 5.8 and 6.2
- The daily dose must be administered in two equal doses (morning and evening)
- In order to quickly achieve urinary acidification, it is recommended to start the treatment with 2 tablets per day.
Contraindications:
- It is contraindicated in patients with: renal or hepatic dysfunction, distal renal tubular acidosis, hyperhomocysteinemia, hyperuricemia, hyperuricosuria, uric lithiasis, cystine lithiasis
- Co-administration of L-methionine with antibiotics such as ampicillin, sulfonamides or nitrofurantoin can lead to prolonged plasma half-life and can potentiate their effect, because these weak acids tend to be reabsorbed by urinary acidification
- There are no studies conducted for the administration of L-methionine in children. L-methionine should not be administered to children under 12 years of age.
