Description
The drug is used for all types of diseases of the respiratory tract accompanied by increased production of thick and viscous mucus that is insufficiently coughed up, such as acute and chronic bronchitis (inflammation of the bronchi), bronchial asthma (bronchial asthma), sinusitis (inflammation of the bronchi). paranasal sinuses), laryngitis (inflammation of the larynx), tracheitis (inflammation of the windpipe) and influenza. In cystic fibrosis (cystic fibrosis) it is used as an additional treatment.
Use
Usual doses Children from 2 to 12 years: 100 mg N-acetylcysteine 3 times a day (½ bag 3 times a day). Adults and children over 12 years of age: 600 mg of N-acetylcysteine per day (this dose can be divided into 3 doses (1 sachet 3 times a day) or administered as a single daily dose, preferably in the evening).
Long-term treatment of chronic bronchitis 200 mg N-acetylcysteine is administered 2 times a day (1 bag 2 times a day). Treatment should be limited to a maximum of 3-6 months.
Cystic fibrosis Children from 2 to 6 years: 100 mg N-acetylcysteine 3 times a day (½ bag 3 times a day). Adults and children over 6 years: 600 mg of N-acetylcysteine per day (this dose can be divided into 3 doses (1 bag 3 times a day), or administered as a single daily dose, preferably in the evening).
The medicine is taken independently of food. The contents of the bag are poured into a glass and poured with a small amount of water (approx. 1-2 dcl). After dissolving the granules, drink the solution.
Warning
The use of the drug during pregnancy can be recommended by a doctor only in serious cases. It is not recommended to use the drug during breastfeeding. Without consulting a doctor, the drug is only for short-term use. An increased intake of liquids is recommended during the administration of the drug. If the increased production of mucus, which is characterized by e.g. cough, does not disappear after treatment in 2 weeks, the diagnosis should be reviewed by a doctor. Oral antibiotics (penicillins, tetracyclines, cephalosporins, aminoglycosides, macrolides, and amphotericin B) should be administered separately from N-acetylcysteine, with an interval of at least 2 hours.
