Directions
Renidan VIT® is indicated for kidney diseases in dogs and cats. It exerts a triple action by:
- absorption of uremic toxins from the digestive tract.
- decreasing the dietary availability of phosphorus by binding it at the intestinal level.
- controlling inflammatory and enzymatic processes and slowing the progression of renal fibrosis.
METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Administration: orally, with food. The animal must have fresh water at its discretion.
Dosage:
The tablets are administered once a day as follows:
Cats and small dogs:
- 0 – 5 kg body weight – 1⁄2 tablet.
- 5 – 10 kg body weight – 1 tablet.
Large dogs:
- 10 – 20 kg body weight – 2 tablets.
- 20 – 40 kg body weight – 3 tablets.
- For weights greater than 40 kg – 4 tablets
COMPONENT PRESENTATION
Calcium carbonate reduces the availability of phosphorus through a chelating effect. In patients with CKD, phosphorus contributes to the intensification of the symptoms of this condition. Calcium carbonate is broken down in the digestive tract, and the calcium ions, which are released as a result of this reaction, couple with phosphate present in food and form calcium phosphate, which is insoluble and non-absorbable.
Chitosan is a polymer obtained from chitin extracted from the hard shell that covers many marine and terrestrial creatures. Chitosan is a polysaccharide, extracted from the shells of crustaceans through a process called deacetylation. The deacetylation process increases the activity of chitosan, improving its solubility in the acidic environment of the stomach. It is a polysaccharide with extremely complex effects on the animal's health.
When used in combination with Calcium Carbonate as a product to support the coupling of phosphorus in the digestive tract, it produces a decrease in the concentration of phosphorus in the blood serum, a decrease in the level of parathormone and a decrease in the urinary secretion of phosphorus. Chitosan is a renal protector that helps eliminate uremic toxins. The administration of these products can be considered an alternative to veterinary diets dedicated to dogs and cats with CRF.
Methionine is an essential amino acid that cannot be produced by the animal body. Methionine has the property of acidifying urine. Metabolic acidification of urine is the most effective prophylactic treatment against recurrent calcium oxalate and struvite reno-urinary stones, or in the case of chronic urinary tract infections with urea-dependent bacteria.
Quercitin is a bioflavonoid with antioxidant and immunomodulatory action. It inhibits both the enzymes involved in the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes - the main mediators of inflammation, and the production of histamine by stabilizing the level of basocytes and mast cells.
Glucosamine protects the mucosa of the lower urinary tract from bacteria and toxins, being a precursor component of glycosaminoglycans.
Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that has the property of calming anxious animals by increasing the amount of serotonin.
Standardized rhubarb extract (Rheum rhabarbarum) has been shown to protect renal tissue. Progressive renal fibrosis is caused by inflammatory processes, leading to a reduction in functional tissue. Rhubarb, through its bioactive compounds (parietin, folic acid, tannin) helps control inflammatory and enzymatic processes. Studies show that rhubarb reduces the expression of fibrinogen mediators and has a positive impact on blood pressure control.
Vitamin D3: In animals suffering from kidney failure, the body's ability to synthesize the active form of vitamin D3 is reduced, which is why supplementation of this vitamin is recommended.
