Description
Features:
- It is a preparation of a completely new generation, which with its wide spectrum of effects far exceeds all local contraceptive preparations available up to that time. The exceptionality of Pharmatex also lies in its antibacterial and antiviral effect, so that, in addition to pregnancy, it also helps to protect against several sexually transmitted diseases.
- Local contraception is a form of contraception that acts locally, that is, in a specific place where it is desired, which in the case of PHARMATEX (vaginal capsules and vaginal cream) is the vaginal area. Local contraception does not contain hormones , and its advantage is that you do not have to think about it every day (as in the case of hormonal contraceptive pills), but only right before intercourse.
- Since PHARMATEX does not contain hormones, it does not have the typical side effects that other forms of contraception can have (weight gain, water retention in the body, risk of varicose veins, formation of blood clots, etc.)
- PHARMATEX local contraception has, in addition to spermicide, an antiseptic effect . It works against some sexually transmitted bacteria and viruses. What is very important, however, is that PHARMATEX does not destroy the lactobacilli, the bacteria that protect the vagina (the "vaginal police") so you know that you are already pregnant
- A great advantage of PHARMATEX is also the lubrication effect , which will be appreciated by women during breastfeeding, when many of you suffer from "vaginal dryness", which is one of the main causes of pain during sexual intercourse.
- The cream has a lavender scent. It is inserted into the vagina before sexual intercourse (preferably lying down). An applicator (pencil-shaped) is placed on the tube and the required amount of cream is squeezed out (the dose is marked on the applicator). The protective effect begins immediately after insertion into the vagina and lasts for 10 hours. In the case of repeated sexual intercourse, another dose of cream must be applied (even if the interval from the first dose of cream is shorter than 10 hours). It is important to fill the applicator with cream so that no air gets in there
How does it work?
The essence of local contraception lies in the spermicidal effect. The active substance of Pharmatex, benzalkonium chloride, is able to destroy the sperm flagellum in five seconds. Afterwards, the head of the sperm is destroyed so that it cannot reach the uterus and further into the fallopian tubes. All this happens in ten seconds. In addition, Pharmatex thickens vaginal mucus, which immobilizes sperm and also creates a mechanical barrier in the area of the cervical canal.
reliability
The reliability of Pharmatex when used correctly is over 97.6%, expressed by the Pearl index of 2.42, making this method the second most effective after hormonal contraception. The high efficiency was confirmed by 15 clinical studies in which more than 3000 women and 32,218 menstrual cycles were monitored.
The need to observe:
- To maintain the high effectiveness of Pharmatex, it is essential to follow the correct application procedure. The preparation must be reapplied before each sexual act
- It should not be used if the woman is being treated with topical vaginal medications
- 2 hours before and 2 hours after sexual intercourse, soaps or intimate hygiene preparations with an acidic pH should not be used, which can reduce the contraceptive effectiveness of Pharmatex, even if used in a minimal amount.
Antiseptic effect
The exceptionality of Pharmatex also lies in its antibacterial and antiviral effect, so that, in addition to pregnancy, it also helps to protect against several sexually transmitted diseases. This feature is very welcome for women who have sex with a "random" partner. Benzalkonium chloride is effective against many pathogens, such as chlamydia, trichomonads, gonorrhea, syphilis, cytomegalovirus, herpes virus and others. In an in vitro study, in which 137 women were monitored for 6 months, a reduction of more than 42% in the occurrence of sexually transmitted diseases was recorded compared to women who did not use Pharmatex.
