Indications:
This medicine is a local contraceptive.
It reduces the risk of pregnancy, without making it disappear completely.
Its effectiveness depends on observing the way of use.
What is a local contraception method?
This method consists in the use of a chemical substance or spermicide, which destroys spermatozoa.
When is this method of local contraception used?
This method of contraception is recommended, mainly, in case you forgot to take the contraceptive pill or took it late; in this case, read again the leaflet of the oral contraceptive you are taking and associate the 2 methods of contraception for the duration of the time left in the menstrual cycle.
Also, your doctor can prescribe you this method of contraception, in the following particular situations:
- if you cannot use an oral contraceptive method or an IUD intrauterine device (diaphragm, IUD);
- if you have recently given birth, if you are breastfeeding or if you are in the pre-menopausal period;
- if you want to use a short-term contraceptive method;
- in association with the local method of contraception through the IUD (diaphragm, sterile device), especially if some drugs are administered simultaneously, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Contraindications:
Do not use Pharmatex:
- if you are allergic to benzalkonium chloride or any of the other components of this medicine.

Precautions:
Before using Pharmatex, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding:
No toxic effects related to the use of this spermicide during pregnancy have been reported.
The active substance is not absorbed, therefore the use of this medicine is possible during breastfeeding.

Driving vehicles and using machines:
Pharmatex does not influence the ability to drive vehicles or use machines.

Mode of administration:
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Doses:
A soft vaginal capsule is administered before each sexual intercourse, regardless of the period of the menstrual cycle in which you are. In the case of repeated reports, you must use a new capsule each time.
Mode and route of administration:
It is administered vaginally. Do not swallow.
It is necessary to observe the following recommendations:
- systematically place a capsule in the depth of the vagina before each sexual intercourse, regardless of the period of the menstrual cycle in which you are;
- the introduction of the capsule is done in the supine position, which allows a better placement of it in the depth of the vagina;
- wait for the complete dissolution of the capsule so that the entire amount of active substance is released (10 minutes);
- in the case of a second or more sexual intercourse, administer another capsule;
- protection is provided for a period of 4 hours;
- immediately after the report, only one external toilet of the region, with water only, is allowed.

Composition:
- The active substance is benzalkonium chloride. Each soft vaginal capsule contains benzalkonium chloride 18.9 mg as an aqueous solution of benzalkonium chloride 50% w/v 37.8 mg.
- The other components are: dimethicone 1000, colloidal silicon dioxide, hydroxypropyl cellulose, macrogol 7-glyceryl cocoate, macrogol 400, gelatin, glycerin.
