Osmofundin is an infusion solution that will be given to you as a drip into a vein.
Osmofundin este utilizat:
- if you urinate very little and your kidneys are not working normally,
- to reduce the pressure or volume of fluid in the brain (cerebral edema),
- to increase urinary flow in case of poisoning with toxic substances,
- as supportive treatment during a glaucoma crisis.
Nu utilizaţi Osmofundin:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to mannitol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Osmofundin.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Task:
Your doctor will administer this medicine to you with caution.
Breastfeeding:
It is not known whether mannitol is excreted in breast milk. However, your doctor will administer this medicine to you with caution and only if absolutely necessary.
Driving and using machines:
This medicine does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.
Osmofundin is administered only by specialized medical personnel, as drops into a vein (intravenous infusion).
Dosage:

The amount of Osmofundin that will be administered to you will be determined by your doctor, depending on your age, body weight and clinical condition.
The maximum daily dose for an adult is 165-700 ml Osmofundin, equivalent to 25-100 g mannitol/day. If your doctor considers it necessary, he will administer higher doses, up to 1333.3 ml Osmofundin, equivalent to 150 g mannitol/day.
Copii:
The doctor will decide the right dose for your child.
Before starting treatment, it should be ensured that kidney function is not impaired. For this purpose, a test dose should be administered, which should lead to the excretion of 30-50 ml of urine within 2-3 hours.
Administering blood transfusions: This medicine will never be given to you through the same device as blood.

- The active substance is mannitol; 1000 ml of solution for infusion contains 150 g of mannitol.
- The other ingredient is water for injections.
