Each Orofar Max throat lozenge contains two active substances: cetylpyridinium chloride and lidocaine hydrochloride, which are indicated for local antiseptic treatment of inflammation of the throat and oral cavity, as well as for pain relief in these conditions.

Cetylpyridinium chloride is an antiseptic that has a bactericidal effect on Gram-positive bacteria and, to a lesser extent, on Gram-negative bacteria. This substance also has antifungal and antiviral properties against lipid-protein enveloped viruses.

Lidocaine hydrochloride is a local anesthetic from the amide group. The anesthetic effect results from the fact that lidocaine hydrochloride changes the permeability of the cell membrane to sodium ions, which causes inhibition of nerve conduction. Lidocaine hydrochloride relieves sore throat and pain associated with oral infections. The anesthetic effect of lidocaine hydrochloride begins only 2 minutes after taking the drug, thanks to which Orofar Max provides rapid relief of an irritated throat .
