LEK-AM Melatonin 5 mg is an OTC (non-prescription) medicine in the form of white, round tablets intended for adults. Indications for the use of the drug are sleep disorders related to sleep-wake rhythm disorders, for example related to time zone changes or shift work, and circadian sleep-wake rhythm disorders in blind patients. Each tablet contains 5 mg of a synthetic equivalent of the natural hormone melatonin.
What is melatonin?
Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone in the human body, produced in the central nervous system by the pineal gland. Melatonin is often called the sleep hormone because it helps regulate the hours of sleep and wakefulness during the day.
