- Read the leaflet carefully and completely before you start using this medicine, because it contains important information for you.
- Always use this medicine as directed in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Indications:
- The active substance of this medicine is xylometazoline. This causes the constriction of the blood vessels in the mucous membrane inside the nose, thus reducing its swelling from various causes, and makes it easier to breathe through the nose.
- Maresyl is used for the short-term treatment of nasal congestion in children aged 2 to 10 years.
Composition:
The active substance is xylometazoline hydrochloride, 1 milliliter of solution containing 0.5 mg. 1 spray of Maresyl 0.5 mg/ml (= 90 microliters) contains xylometazoline hydrochloride 45 micrograms.
Administration method:
- Before the first use, it is necessary to spray several times (4 times) in the air in order to obtain the uniformity of the dose. The bottle must be kept in a vertical position. If the medicine is not used for several days, at least one spray in the air, as a test, should be carried out to obtain a uniform dose.
- Maresyl 0.5 mg/ml is indicated for the treatment of nasal congestion in children aged between 2 and 10 years.
- Dosage
The usual dose for children is one spray in each nostril, at intervals of 10-12 hours (no more than three times a day) for a maximum of 5 days.
Maresyl 0.5 mg/ml is not recommended for children under 2 years of age. The safety and efficacy of Maresyl 0.5 mg/ml in children under 2 years of age have not been established.
Contraindications:
Do not use Maresyl:
- if your child is allergic to xylometazoline or any of the other components of this medicine.
Precautions:
Before using Maresyl, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
Breastfeeding:
- It is not known whether xylometazoline passes into human milk. A risk to the infant cannot be excluded.
- A decision should be made whether to discontinue breast-feeding or to discontinue/discontinue Maresyl taking into account the benefit of breast-feeding for the child and the benefit of treatment for the woman. Since overdose can lead to decreased milk production, the recommended dose of xylometazoline should not be exceeded during breastfeeding.
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
Driving vehicles and using machines:
If taken appropriately, this medicine does not affect the ability to drive or use machines; however, if you feel groggy or drowsy when using this medicine, you should not drive or operate machinery.
