The concept for Bonikka appeared in 1895 after a simple but very significant incident. Mano's great-grandfather Sheriff gave his daughter, Mano's grandmother, a porcelain doll when she left to start her own family. Mano received the same doll when she was little, which she kept, reminding her of the importance of family and family love. Thus, Mano grew up, founded a company and created an exceptional range of dolls. The Bonikka phenomenon later spread to 8 countries, winning numerous awards, the dolls becoming friends with more than 350,000 children from all over the world.

Because family means so much to us, our hearts go out to those who do not have a family of their own, especially to orphaned children, who certainly do not receive the same kind of love and affection as in their own parents' home.
In this sense, Bonikka established an alliance with the Viharamahadevi Center for Child Development Center, an orphanage located in close proximity to the main factory in Biyagama, Sri Lanka. It is a non-profit organization that supports meeting the needs of girls between 5 and 18 years old (providing food, housing and clothing for the children in their care). By buying a Bonikka toy, you help support this community. With each purchase, a part is donated to subsidize the maintenance expenses of the girls sheltered and protected by this center.

The toy is certified non-toxic, does not contain BPA, Phthalates and PVC.
