Essenciale Forte is a hepatotropic drug used in liver diseases for the protection and restoration of hepatocytes (liver cells).
The active substance is essential phospholipids (EPL® substance) from soybeans.

Important! The drug is prescribed to adult patients and children from the age of 12, but only if the child's body weight exceeds 43 kg.

Forms of release

Essentiale Forte of this variety is available in the form of hard capsules containing 300 mg of active substance with a concentration of 76% phosphatidylcholine, 100 capsules per package.

Indications for use

Essenciale Forte supports the liver. It is an effective remedy for the protection of the liver and the treatment of liver diseases, which can be manifested by a feeling of pressure in the right side of the upper abdomen, lack of appetite, bitterness in the mouth, etc.

Essenciale Forte can be prescribed for hepatic obesity (fatty infiltration of the liver), damage to the liver by harmful substances (alcohol, drugs, improper diet), acute or chronic hepatitis of various origins, cirrhosis, psoriasis, radiation syndrome.
Also, the drug can be used before and after operations on the liver and biliary tract.

Dosage regimen

Essenciale Forte 300 mg for liver adults and children from 12 years (with a body weight of 43 kg) usually take an initial dose of 2 capsules 3 times a day. The maintenance dose is 1 capsule 3 times a day.
Capsules are taken with meals, without chewing and drinking clean water.

The duration of treatment with Essenciale Forte is at least 3 months.

Contraindications

Essentiale Forte 300 mg is not prescribed:

children under 12 years of age, as well as children over 12 years of age, if their body weight does not reach 43 kg;
in case of individual intolerance to the drug;
in case of allergy to soy, peanuts (not recommended).
Additional medical consultation is required during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The safety of the drug during these periods is insufficiently studied.

Particularities of use

Sometimes the medicine can cause allergic reactions because it contains soybean oil. It is not recommended for patients with soy, peanut allergy.
In chronic hepatitis, treatment with Essentiale Forte capsules continues only if there is an improvement in the condition. If there is no improvement or symptoms persist / new ones appear - it is necessary to consult a doctor

Important! There are many medicines for the liver with different active substances of plant origin. These include Lagosa (silymarin preparation), Liv-52 (containing chicory seeds, caper roots and iron oxide), Fortificat Forte (soy lecithin). But if your doctor prescribed exactly Essentiale Forte 300 mg - follow this recommendation and do not replace it with others without the doctor's advice.

Side effects

Essentiale Forte 300 mg can cause side effects from the gastrointestinal tract in the form of stomach discomfort, diarrhea.
Possible allergic reactions in the form of exanthema, urticaria, skin itching.
Severe allergic reactions are possible in case of allergy to soy, peanuts.
If side effects occur, stop taking the drug and consult a doctor.
Interaction with other drugs and food
The capsules are administered at meals, with drinking water.
There is no information on the drug's interaction with other drugs. However, the interaction of the active substance Essenciale Forte with anticoagulants (blood thinners) cannot be excluded.
If you are taking anticoagulants, be sure to inform your doctor before you start using Essenciale Forte - the dose may need to be adjusted.
