Indications:
Efferalgan 500 mg effervescent tablets is indicated in: - the symptomatic treatment of pain of mild to moderate intensity, with different locations: headache, toothache, arthralgia, myalgia, dysmenorrhea; - symptomatic treatment of fever in adults and children.
Composition:
- The active substance is paracetamol. Each effervescent tablet contains paracetamol 500 mg.
- The other components are: anhydrous citric acid, anhydrous sodium carbonate, sodium hydrogencarbonate, sorbitol, sodium saccharin, sodium docusate, povidone, sodium benzoate., piperonal, amyl cinnamate, vanillin, acetylvanillin), anhydrous citric acid, purified water .
Administration method:
- The recommended dose is 10 mg/kg body weight to 15 mg/kg body weight/dose every 4 to 6 hours until
- at the maximum total daily dose of 60 mg/kg body/day. The minimum interval between administrations is 4 hours.
- Adults and adolescents with body weight over 50 kg (over 12 years of age): the dose is
- 500 mg to 1000 mg every 4-6 hours (1-2 effervescent tablets once) up to a maximum of 4 g per day.
- Use in children and adolescents
- In children, the doses established in relation to the child's weight must be respected and, consequently, an appropriate form of presentation must be selected. The age/weight relationship is indicative only.
- Children with a body weight between 14 and 20 kg (aged between 4 and 7 years): the dose is ½ effervescent tablet once; if necessary, the dose is repeated after an interval of 6 hours, without exceeding 4 halves of an effervescent tablet per day.
- Children with a body weight between 20 and 27 kg (aged between 7 and 10 years): the dose is ½ effervescent tablet once; if necessary, the dose is repeated after an interval of 4 hours, without exceeding 6 halves of an effervescent tablet per day.
- Children and adolescents with a body weight between 27 and 40 kg (aged between 10 and 11 years): the dose is 1 effervescent tablet once; if necessary, the dose is repeated after an interval of 6 hours, without exceeding 4 effervescent tablets per day.
- Children and adolescents with a body weight between 40 and 50 kg (aged between 11 and 12 years): the dose is 1 effervescent tablet once; if necessary, the dose is repeated after an interval of 4 hours, without exceeding 6 effervescent tablets per day.
- Mode and frequency of administration
- Oral administration.
- The effervescent tablet dissolves completely in a glass of water.
- Regular administration avoids fluctuations in the intensity of pain or fever.
- In children, there must be a regular interval between administrations, both day and night, preferably 6 hours and not less than 4 hours.
- In adults, there must be an interval of at least 4 hours between administrations.
Treatment should be re-evaluated if:
- treated pain, especially joint pain, persists for more than 5 days;
- the fever persists for more than 3 days and the symptoms worsen;
- severe pharyngitis persists for more than 2 days and is accompanied or followed by fever, headache, transient rash, nausea or vomiting.
Contraindications:
Do not take Efferalgan:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to paracetamol or propacetamol hydrochloride (paracetamol precursor) or to any of the other components of this medicine;
- if you suffer from severe hepatocellular insufficiency or decompensated active liver disease;
- if you have been diagnosed with fructose intolerance;
- in children with body weight under 14 kg or under 4 years of age.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
At therapeutic doses, in the short term, the medicine can be administered during pregnancy, but the administration will be done with a recommendation and under medical supervision. Paracetamol crosses the placenta and is excreted in breast milk. Caution is recommended in the administration of paracetamol during breastfeeding.
Driving vehicles and using machines:
It's not necessary.
