PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS
Icons in the packaging
The FERRITIN TEST is intended to determine the level of ferritin from a fingertip blood sample. Low ferritin levels can indicate iron deficiency and anemia. A positive result that means a normal level of ferritin in the blood means a normal level of this protein above 30ng/ml. A negative result indicating a deficiency of ferritin in the blood means that the level of this protein is too low, below 30ng/ml.
INDICATIONS FOR PERFORMING THE TEST
- fatigue
- pale
- headache
- breathing difficulties
- thin hair and nails
SUMMARY
Anemia is defined as a decrease in the value of hemoglobin and/or the number of erythrocytes below the norm for a certain sex and age. The most common form of anemia is iron deficiency anemia and affects about 30% of the population, it is the most common nutritional deficiency in the world. The amount of iron in the body is controlled by its absorption. We lose iron with the shedding of the epidermis, as a result of physiological (menstrual) and pathological bleeding. Iron deficiency can be related to insufficient supply (poor diet, vegetarianism, malnutrition), decreased absorption (low acidity of abdominal juice), increased demand (pregnancy, lactation), chronic wasting, and utilization disorders related to deficiency of iron-carrying proteins. . An indicator of the body's iron resources is the protein ferritin, which stores iron in a form that is safe for the cell. Decreased ferritin indicates iron deficiency. The indications for testing the ferritin level are the diagnosis of anemia, the monitoring of patients taking iron preparations, the diagnosis of liver diseases and some cancers. Ferritin testing is recommended for people at high risk: athletes, children, pregnant women, the elderly, vegans and people with malabsorption disorders.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. How does the FERRITIN TEST work?
The test measures the level of ferritin in a blood sample. A positive result that means a normal level of ferritin in the blood means a normal level of this protein above 30 ng/ml.
A negative result indicating a deficiency of ferritin in the blood means that the level of this protein is too low, below 30 ng/ml. Low levels of ferritin in the blood can indicate iron deficiency and anemia, the characteristic symptoms of which are fatigue, paleness, headaches, shortness of breath during exercise, and brittle hair and nails. Athletes, pregnant women, women with heavy periods, vegetarians and the elderly are particularly vulnerable to iron deficiency anemia.
2. WHEN WILL THE TEST BE DONE?
The clinical use of measuring blood ferritin levels is useful in the diagnosis of anemia. The FERRITIN test is a useful tool for monitoring low blood iron levels. The TEST can be performed at any time. It is not recommended to perform the test in case of inflammation or damage to the liver or spleen. The test procedure must be strictly followed.
3. WHAT WILL YOU LOOK FOR WHEN YOU TAKE THE TEST?
Test results obtained depend on compliance with the instructions contained in the instructions for use. If the test strip gets wet or the wrong amount of blood sample or reagent is used, the test result may be incorrect. The capillary pipette included in the test kit facilitates the collection of the appropriate blood sample. It is recommended to consult the results with your doctor.
4. WHY IS IT NECESSARY FOR A COLORED LINE TO APPEAR IN CONTROL FIELD C
The appearance of a colored line in the control field C means that the test was performed correctly and indicates a reliable result.
5. IS THE RESULT READ AFTER 10 MINUTES RELIABLE?
The result read after 10 minutes is not reliable. The result should be read 5 minutes after adding the reagent.
6. WHAT TO DO IF A RESULT SHOWS A CORRECT FERRITIN LEVEL IN THE BLOOD?
If the test result is positive, it means that the ferritin level in the blood is higher than 30 ng/ml, this result means that the ferritin concentration is normal; the iron level does not deviate from the norm.
7. HOW TO PROCEED IN THE CASE OF A BLOOD FERRITIN DEFICIENCY RESULT?
If the test result is negative, it means that the ferritin level in the blood is less than 30 ng/ml, which means that the ferritin level is too low and there is an iron deficiency; It is recommended to consult your doctor.
