Dezamigren - an over-the-counter migraine medication

Desamigren 12.5 mg is a drug in the form of film-coated tablets containing almotriptan ( Almotriptan malas ). The indication for the use of the drug without a medical prescription is the emergency treatment of headaches associated with acute migraine attacks with or without aura.

What is a migraine?

A migraine is a throbbing, unilateral, moderate or severe headache that may worsen with physical activity. The headache is accompanied by at least one of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, hypersensitivity to light, sounds or smells. Migraine headaches can sometimes be preceded by certain symptoms, such as short-term low mood, nervousness, anxiety or loss of appetite. In some people, shortly before the onset of a headache, the so-called aura, that is, transient visual disturbances with the impression of flashes of light, flickering spots or lines of light.

Desamigren is a migraine medicine that belongs to a group of medicines called selective serotonin receptor agonists. The active substance (almotriptan) binds to serotonin receptors in blood vessels in the brain, causing them to constrict, thus reducing the inflammatory response associated with migraine.

How fast do Dezamigren tablets work?

If you suffer from migraines, use Dezamigren with an over-the-counter triptan that works within 30 minutes of use. Almotriptan can only be used in patients with diagnosed migraine. The drug also relieves symptoms that accompany migraines, such as nausea, phonophobia, and/or photophobia. Do not forget to complete the diagnostic test included in the package before each use of the drug.
