What properties does Manuka honey have?
Manuka honey comes from the nectar and sucrose secretions of plants of the genus Leptospermum , which are collected, modified, stored and dehydrated by honeybees ( Apis melifera ). This honey is clear to slightly cloudy and medium amber in color. It is liquid honey without odors and perfume notes.
Australia produces some of the strongest and tastiest Manuka honey in the world due to its warm climate and diverse number of Leptospermum (Manuka) varieties. Capilano Active Manuka honey is characterized by a concentration of at least 30 mg/kg of Methylglyoxal (MGO) - a compound responsible for the properties of this type of honey and a rich, caramel flavor. It is packaged in a convenient, tight bottle with a capacity of 250 g.
