Active ingredients:
Each gram of cream contains clotrimazole 10 mg.
How to use:
- Canesten cream is administered cutaneously
- Apply the cream 2-3 times a day, in a thin layer and gently massage until the cream penetrates the skin
- In general, about ½ cm of cream is enough to treat an area the size of a palm
- For infections of the labia (candidal vulvitis) and adjacent areas, candidal balanitis and inflammation of the glans penis, apply the cream to the affected area of the skin (eg from the vagina to the anus) 1-3 times a day
- For foot infections, it is recommended to wash and dry the feet, especially between the toes, before applying the cream
- The duration of treatment varies depending on the severity of the infection and its location: cutaneous mycosis, including athlete's foot, 3-4 weeks; erythrasma, 2-4 weeks; pityriasis versicolor, 1-3 weeks; vulvitis and candidal balanitis, 1-2 weeks.
Precautions:
- Do not use Canesten cream if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, or if you have had allergic reactions to other medicines containing clotrimazole
- Do not use to treat scalp or nail infections
- The cream is intended for cutaneous administration only
- Contains cetostearyl alcohol, may cause local adverse skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis)
- As a precaution, it is preferable to avoid the use of clotrimazole during the first trimester of pregnancy
- Breast-feeding should be discontinued during treatment with clotrimazole.
