Composition:
Aphtaplus® is a natural product that contains: honey, glycerol, cranberry extract (Vaccinium macrocarpon), blueberry extract (Vaccinium myrtillus), xanthan gum

How it works:
Aphtaplus® is the only product with specific local action on canker sores and oral lesions. It has an original, innovative mechanism of action, patented by the Vitrobio Research Institute in France.
Aphtaplus® is composed of 2 active complexes: the osmotic active honey-glycerol complex and the complex of tannins from plant extracts. The synergistic action of the 2 active complexes leads to the rapid healing of canker sores and oral lesions, in 2-3 days.
The role of active complexes:
1. The osmotic active honey-glycerol complex:

• The viscous nature of the product creates a protective film over the lesion/canker sore, as well as between the braces and the mucosa, reducing the friction between the two surfaces.
• The protective film created above the lesion prevents the penetration of viruses, bacteria, fungi, impurities from the outside and ensures hydration of the lesion.
• Through its active osmotic effect, it removes the liquid (plasma) from the inside to the outside of the lesion, together with the bacterial particles, cellular or food debris and, thus, cleans the lesion of microbial contamination and prepares the ground for the healing process.
• The honey-glycerol complex has an osmotic action approximately 2 times higher than simple honey; also, its action is superior to that of glycerol taken separately.
• The concentrations of honey and glycerol in the complex are specifically adapted to the oral mucosa.
• Honey at a pH of 6 - 6.5 generates hydrogen peroxide that helps eliminate hidden contaminants from cellular tissues.
• Due to its hygroscopic properties, honey keeps the lesion hydrated, and therefore creates a favorable ground for healing.
• The honey from the complex is acacia honey, low in pollen and hypoallergenic. - Both honey and glycerol are known as antimicrobial agents. Antimicrobial tests conducted according to the European Pharmacopoeia showed that glycerol induces a logarithmic reduction of Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger.

2. Complex of tannins from blueberry and cranberry extracts:

• Research has shown that mucosal and skin wounds contain dead cells, microbial agents, matrix proteolytic enzymes (such as MMPs - Matrix Metalloproteins), collagenases, elastases, trypsin, …..which degrade the intercellular collagen matrix, essential for cell growth and for cell attachment. This process delays cell growth and wound healing.
• The Vitrobio Research Institute has patented the first protease inhibitor (proteolytic enzymes). He discovered that specific plant tannins bind to proteolytic enzymes, neutralizing their action and stopping the degradation of collagen and other intercellular matrices, thus stimulating cell growth and subsequent healing.
• In addition, the tannins from the blueberry and cranberry extracts prolong the retention time of the osmotic film created on the mucosa by the honey-glycerol complex, protecting the injury from external aggressions.

Recommendations for use:

• Wash your hands before applying the product
• The product is intended for local use only.
• Remove the cap of the tube, insert the tip of the applicator into the mouth, close to the canker sore or lesion and apply 3-4 drops of Aphtaplus® directly on the canker sore or lesion.
• Do not touch the lesion with the tip of the applicator during use.
• To be used 3-4 times a day, until complete healing.
• Close the lid tightly after each use.
• Do not use Aphtaplus® in case of hypersensitivity to one of the product components, if you are already following a treatment for canker sores or if the symptoms persist.
• Aphtaplus® can be administered to children over 3 years old and to pregnant or breastfeeding women
